The F-5E Tiger is the evolution of the low-cost F-5A lightweight supersonic fighter. It was conceived at the end of the 1960s for the Western Allies as a counterpart to the MIG-21.

Compared to its predecessors, the F-5E features improved climbing performance, higher final speed of 1.6 Mach, and significantly improved manoeuvrability. In addition, the fighter was electronically fully equipped for instrument flight. Its nickname "Tiger" is due to the Vietnam deployment of the F-5E, which was called "Skoshi Tiger".

The F5-E and the two-seater F-5 F are shipped to many countries worldwide and are also used as trainers at the US Navy School "Top Gun". The model in scale 1: 5 is extremely good-natured and therefore also easy to control by jet beginners.
