The ASW 19 was designed by Gerhard Waibel in 1975 as the follow-up model to the ASW 15. It was developed as a performance aircraft in the FAI standard class and was produced a total of 425 times at Alexander Schleicher in Poppenhausen until 1986. The focus of the design was on the aerodynamically significantly improved fuselage, which was tapered in the cockpit area.
The ASW 20 was further developed as a flap version especially for the 15m competition class. Among many top rankings, the world championship title in 1981 was the highlight of the success story.
Our model is ideal for long thermal flights and simple aerobatics such as loops and rolls.
In combination with the flaps as ASW 20 the range of use is extended again and the fast flight characteristics are optimized. If the flaps are mixed with the ailerons, you get an extremely agile machine with high agility, which is also enormous fun on slopes and alpine flying.
